I love mornings. On weekdays, I’m usually up by 5:30am. On weekends, I “sleep in” until 7am. I always start my day with coffee and a read of the Globe and Mail, the New York Times and my favorite blogs. Then it’s action time: I glance at my email and map out my day on
Evernote (the best productivity tool for a visual person like me!).

For breakfast, I’m obsessed with banana pancakes. Loaded with nutrition, a stack of these delicious pancakes keeps me satisfied until lunch. And, they are so easy to make: 1 banana, 2 eggs, 2 tbsp ground flax and a drop of vanilla. Blend all ingredients in blender and pour into a grill greased with a bit of coconut oil.

Every Saturday morning, I run with my girlfriends. My next race is the Boston Marathon in April. Marathon training means literally my entire Saturday morning is dedicated to running – 2-3 hours running through the beautiful Edmonton river valley. After a long run what I crave most is a green juice (4 curly kale leaves, 2 pears, a handful of spinach, a few sprigs of mint, ½ a lemon and a 1-inch piece of fresh ginger).

Saturday afternoons are for friends, shopping and great books. I like to be casual but styled. My go-to outfit:
Rag & Bone Jeans,
Everlane white tee,
Smythe Blazer and
#PoppyBarley Everyday City Boots. I love grocery shopping. I sift through cookbooks looking for inspiration for the upcoming week. I make a detailed list in Evernote and dash off the farmers’ market, grocery store or organic market. (P.S. These adorable
reusable grocery bags are making it easier for me to stick to my
New Year’s resolution.)

Baking is one of the activities I enjoy the most. I love baking goodies for friends.
This is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever. (And I’ve tried hundreds of variations!)

The best Saturday evening is spent with my husband and friends. This is how the night should go: start in a crowded wine bar sampling grapes. Move to a late dinner reservation at
Corso 32 where chef Daniel Costa transports me to Italy with outstandingly fresh food, inspired recipes and a very cozy space.

I am happiest if I’m in bed by midnight…
