The Read | Product Design Our Take on Fall 2015 Fashion August 14, 2015 5-minute read There's a bit of bite in the air each morning, and it's cooling off at night. Your therapy: Fall fashion. If you're like us, you're creating a shopping list. Our Fall 2015 Collection, styled by Ania B., is full of inspiration. From suede coats to denim-on-denim, here's a look at how to style your Poppy Barley boots, ankle boots and flats, whether it's for a work day or a weekend getaway. We know. We've heard the rumours. Flares are coming back in style. But here's proof that skinny jeans are going nowhere fast. Neatly tucked into The Chain Boot (our only new riding boot for Fall 2015), pair your favourite jeans with a warm, knit sweater. Consider the unique chain detail on the heel of this boot an effortless accessory as the draped turtleneck replaces your favourite statement necklace. This look is so pared-down sophisticated it hurts. Wear it on Thanksgiving long weekend or long autumn walks through the park, just before dinner. Here, it's all about that hat (this one is from Pendleton). The off-the-shoulder white blouse from Stone Cold Fox adds a boho (or Hispanic, even) touch to simple, black, cropped cigarette pants with lace-up cuffs--a trend that's holding strong this season. Ania finished this look with Poppy Barley's Slip-on Oxford in Cobra (new this Fall) and Black Nubuck. In one fantasy sentence, it's kinda like Catherine Zeta Jones jumped into Zorro's closet for a day, just for fun. Boots and skirts - don't be shy! Pairing tall knee boots with bare legs is the perfect way to transition to cooler temperatures. Here, layering up denim-on-denim in contrasting hues (both from Topshop) has been given a feminine spin with a suede mini-skirt in a neutral colour. This colour palette allows La Hacienda Boot in Marsala (17 pairs left) to really pop. All together, it's got an upscale, rustic feel--exactly what we picture when we imagine escaping to the Rockies for a few days. Denim isn't going anywhere. A full blue jean-dress with long sleeves is both ladylike and tomboyish all at once. What's more--it's the fastest, easiest way to get dressed in the morning and feel effortlessly comfortable, and yet totally on point. Add a big knit scarf and this outfit is good to face any early morning chill. Here, it's paired with The Classic Point in Cobra, our most expensive leather yet (for us, not for you), and evokes images of an intricate mountain landscape with all its black onyx textures. Suede or nubuck, don't hold back on this texture! It's a foolproof balance between cozy and sophisticated, and this particular '70s-esque jacket from Topshop is the perfect length to wear over a dress. It's a throwback era that everyone from Jill Stuart to Rebecca Minkoff channelled on the runways. And, inspired by the nubuck shin on The Highline Boot, it's a suede-on-nubuck pairing that works. Look for a jacket that has a belt that will help accentuate the waist. Please note: mixing neutrals is a-ok. There were a few pieces we saw our Fall 2015 Collection muses, Marilyn Monroe and Francoise Hardy, wear in a series of old photographs that we took major inspiration from. This look is a perfect fusion of the two: a black chapeau (a la Hardy), a crisp white, collared shirt (a la Monroe - pls. take note of the loose fitting crop top), and menswear-inspired pants (both!). Ultimately, it's how we want to look all day, every day. The cropped and rolled up ankle cuffs are a great way to show off our brand new Lace-up Ankle Bootie, which has two textures to it. Have we convinced you to dress up your boots sans tight yet? The bare-legs-and-boots-combo can only be worn for a certain time period (like, now, before the bitter cold), so we're going to take it and run. Plus, this army green piece from Sanctuary looks comfortable enough to sleep in. Accessorized with big, cat-eye sunnies, Ania's made our colour-blocked Foxhunt Boot in Cognac and Black look so luxurious, we might just check out of work early and join her on the Banff bridge. Calling your inner rock star! This look is unapologetically edgy and bold. Pair a suede moto jacket (this one is by Veda and from Nordstrom) with leather (or Faux leather) lace-up pants and our Ruby Red Chelsea Boots (back by popular demand for another season). It's a (suede) leather on leather on leather look that we can't argue with. P.S. Don't be afraid to show a little skin at the ankle when you wear The Chelsea Boot. You can wear them with pretty much anything.
