Poppy Barley Weekly 14

3-minute read

Poppy Barley Weekly 14 The long weekend has arrived! It’s the last weekend before September, which means saying our final goodbyes to flip flops and shorts and saying hello to boots and fall fashion. Many of our team members have been out of the office enjoying the last bit of summer this week, whether it’s Breanne enjoying wineries in BC (and getting engaged!) or Justine spending some time at our studio in Mexico. I’m just finishing up my first month at Poppy Barley and I am absolutely loving it so far! Working at a startup has thrown me out of my comfort zone in a great way - it is very fast paced, you constantly have to think on your feet and every single day is different. What I love the most is the passion of the team and being able to interact with our customers – not to mention being constantly surrounded by shoes! Before we re-cap, some photo credits: special thanks to Carole Anne Devaney for this snap of her Black Python Classic Point flats, and to 204 Park's Diana for sharing a photo of her Black Feminine Slippers (and that couch - oh. my. word.). Here’s what happened this week:
  • We had a photo shoot on Tuesday to capture all our latest colours and styles! What a neat experience to see our model, Emma, in action. She was absolutely stunning and our stylist, Jyllian Park, put together amazing outfits from Coup, Workhall, Swish and Noul to compliment our new collection (gave me some ideas for a new wardrobe).
  • Justine has been spending time in our studio in León, Mexico this week with Laura, Lupita, and our artisans. The team in Mexico even made her a tiny pair of ankle booties as a souvenir (see photo below).
  • VERY exciting news: Poppy Barley was named one of Western Living Magazine's Designers to Watch in the fashion category! We'll be heading to Vancouver and Calgary for the #DOTY2014 parties, which means we'll also be hosting popup shops in both cities while we're there! Save the dates - Sept. 19th-20th (Vancouver) and October 2nd-3rd (Calgary) - and sign up for our newsletter for more details.
  • More blog coverage that makes us do a happy-dance: Brandy at Cashmere & Camo included the Foxhunt Boot in her Back to School Style round-up today. (Looking at all her picks for Fall makes us feel so ready to take on the new season!) Erin Loechner at Clementine Daily included The Chelsea Boot in her August editor favourites. And lastly, Justine spoke to Dry Run about cash-flow and Poppy Barley beginnings. Take a read!
  • This week, we sold out of our Limited Edition Rodeo Darling Block Heel Boot! The Green With Envy Classic Point and Blue Jean Baby Classic Ankle Bootie and Feminine Slipper are still on sale! We can’t wait to release our new Limited Edition Collections in September.
  • Boots have been top of mind! Our measuring appointments have been completely booked up this week and everyone is looking to rock a new pair of boots for fall. The Foxhunt seems to be a new favourite.
  • Measuring appointment update: We’ve changed our Edmonton bookings in September to Tuesday (1 to 6pm) & Thursday (5 to 8pm). Book an appointment here.
Happy weekend! Poppy Barley - baby shoes? A souvenir from our factory. thread

Belt Measuring Guide

Belt Measuring Guide

A - High-rise style:

If you plan to wear your belt around your natural waistline, wrap a measuring tape around the narrowest part of your midsection. Then, add 3” to determine your high-rise belt size.

B - Mid-rise style:

If you plan to wear your belt lower than your natural waistline, you will require a dierent size. If you have a particular pair of bottoms you intend to wear your belt with, wrap a measuring tape through the belt loops while in a relaxed position.

When wearing your belt in your preferred style, it should fasten in the middle hole. The belt will relax with wear allowing you to cinch it tighter, as needed.

If you plan to wear the belt in both the high and mid-rise styles, you have two options:

  1. Select your high-rise style and fasten it more loosely when worn in the mid-rise style.
  2. Select your mid-rise style and fasten it more tightly when worn in the high-rise style.
