About This Role
As Store Manager, you make magic happen. You lead every aspect of your store from marketing to people, operations and management. You rethink retail to create remarkable brand and customer experiences. You embody the Poppy Barley brand and culture and translate it to your team, partners and guests.
This role is to lead Poppy Barley’s first retail location outside of Alberta. You will be a key contributor to building Poppy Barley’s brand awareness and market share in the region, through creating a remarkable guest experience in store and working with PB’s marketing team on regional pop-ups and marketing activations.
Lead, develop, and coach your team to drive performance and deliver brand experiences.
Spend much of your time on the retail floor connecting with customers and your team. Leading by example, you coach in the moment and you’re accountable for all areas of customer experience.
Support the development of a culture that balances financial results, community impact and a focus on execution with a fun and creative atmosphere.
Be a strategic leader by identifying problems, seeking solutions, and outlining key company objectives.
Manage and delegate store workload and priorities, in partnership with the ASM.
Resolve guest feedback and address emergent issues, including guest escalations, helping to “make it right” for guests.
Own the store’s key KPIs, including sales, returns, conversion, AOV, payroll budget, and store & employee NPS. Be able to speak to them and respond with strategy and tactics to achieve your KPIs.
Brand and Marketing:
Consistently deliver Poppy Barley’s retail brand experience and contribute to it by adding your knowledge and ideas.
Utilize retail and brand tactics (including sales floor leadership, storytelling, employee training, merchandising, and marketing activations) to achieve the store’s objectives.
Working with PB’s Marketing team, increase local brand awareness by executing a local market calendar that includes hosting influencers and in-store events, and organizing regional pop-ups.
Stay up to date on all company campaigns, product launches and communications, and ensure all pertinent information is shared with your team.
Create and foster a respectful and inclusive team environment by welcoming and celebrating differences to ensure a supportive and engaging experience for all team members and guests.
Oversee the hiring and development of an exceptional team that is able to drive guest experience and produce results.
Work with the Retail Director to develop training and on-boarding plans for new hires, and execute on the training at the store.
Create a training pipeline in store (from Brand Concierge to Key Lead to ASM to SM) by focusing on the competency growth and providing direct feedback, coaching, growth opportunities, and addressing performance concerns.
Provide team member recognition, gap assessment, and overall performance documentation to support and reinforce career and personal growth.
Oversee the scheduling of the store to ensure accurate levels of staffing to complete both back of house tasks and high levels of customer service based on the budgets and store initiatives.
Oversee the stores’s visual merchandising and execute strategies that align with the company and store’s priorities and inventory position.
Oversee the store’s operations including POS training, backroom management, inventory intake and counts and e-commerce fulfillment.
Provide feedback to the Product and Operations Teams and help in the development and roll-out of new solutions.
Understand and adhere to people safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
This position is 40 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday.
Holiday blackout period from mid-November to mid-January. Exact dates are determined annually.
Unpacking boxes for inventory as required (boxes can weigh up to 30 lbs) and stand for long periods of time.

Demonstrated leadership ability with 2+ years experience in a retail management position.
Passion for the retail business.
Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with people.
Strong self-starter who can manage time and priorities.
Working knowledge of Google Drive applications and Excel; able to learn new softwares.
Post-secondary degree in a related field.
