The Role

As a Performance Marketing Manager, your main objective is to own the strategic and tactical execution of all paid media channels for Poppy Barley, including Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, and more.

We are growing (not cutting!) That means you will have a healthy budget to work with, and the possibility of larger budgets based on channel performance.

What You'll Do:

  • Work with marketing leadership to develop paid media strategies that align with our revenue and new customer acquisition targets.
  • Define and set paid acquisition strategy for various audience segments across channels
  • Translate your strategies to tactical implementation in the ad accounts, and maintain ad accounts to ensure optimal performance
  • Develop and scale a creative testing framework, and work with 2 insanely talented graphic designers to bring your ideas to life.
  • Lead the exploration of new paid media initiatives; identify, test and unlock new channels to drive customer growth, ROI and incremental revenue.  
  • Leverage data and insights to make calculated (but sometimes imperfect) decisions on ad/channel performance 
  • Obsess over KPI’s like CAC, LTV, ROAS, return rates, new customer growth
  • Proactively explore audience and performance data to identity new opportunities

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid model – flexible WFH policy with office-based work at Edmonton Warespace (HQ).

About You:

  • You are a self-starter. If you are looking for a to-do list every day, this role is not for you.
  • You are comfortable making decisions that aren’t fully backed by concrete evidence. Is ROAS important? Yes. Is CAC important? Yes. Is it the only way we define success? No. Attribution is an art and a science. By the way, if you had to Google what ROAS and CAC are, let's not waste your time or ours.
  • You think BIG, but have the technical chops to implement your ideas. If you are a serial delegator, you won’t be a great fit for this role.
  • Failure doesn’t get you down. You learn, take it on the chin, and apply your learnings for the next time.
  • You are curious. If you don’t know the answer to a question or problem, you are comfortable saying ‘I don’t know’, and then finding the answer.
  • You aren't interested in best practices. You want to find out what works, not what generates the most revenue for ad platforms.

Pro-tip: reference the above in your cover letter for brownie points.

Qualifications:

  • You have 3+ years of experience working in the big ad managers (Google, Meta). Bonus points for experience with TikTok and/or Pinterest.
  • Fluent in A/B testing, landing page optimization, and ad creative testing frameworks
  • Proven track record of managing and profitably scaling ad spend (bonus points for scaling past 6 figures a month)
  • Solid project management skills: ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (creative, brand, product and technol, prioritize high impact activities, and keep complex projects moving forward.)
  • Very comfortable with Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
  • Previous experience in E-Commerce would be an asset, but not essential
  • Previous experience with SQL would be an asset, but not essential
