From the small community of Olds, Alberta, Canada, Dr. Carrington tasked us to connect with little nudges like text five people you’re thinking about. Send love via video and door drops. Make it your purpose this week to be kind to everyone you see. Dr. Carrington’s definition of BRAVE is doing something, with your whole heart when you can’t predict the outcome. Just the word we need for 2021. We ask Dr. Carrington for tips on thriving in 2021. What inspired you to go into counselling? The question for me is who inspired me? It would be all of the experiences that people allowed me to be seen. I wanted to do that for others. Which women have impacted your life the most? My Mama, my Baba, Brene Brown, Maya Angelou. What has kept you positive throughout 2020? Finding the joy. What’s your biggest piece of advice on staying connected and maintaining your relationships during the pandemic? A gentle reminder to drop your shoulders, breath deep and remember that we are all walking each other home. What excites you about 2021? The launch of my second book, a four part event series celebrating community and women, a course for mental health professionals and watching my kids handle the hard stuff.
