The Read | Product Design Introducing: The Savannah Hill Boot April 10, 2013 1-minute read A few months back, we hosted a public vote on our Facebook page asking for your help in selecting the design of Poppy Barley's 4th boot style. Of the three sketches we released, there was one clear crowd favourite. We sent your top pick down to the studio in León, Mexico, and a few weeks later, the first sample came in. We loved its streamlined style and subtle nod to the West. We reached out to you again: your baby has arrived - what should we call her?! After much discussion over your insightful suggestions (like The Urban Cowboy, The Charlie, The Alberta, The Jasper, and The Montana) we were drawn to the word, "Savannah" (our heartfelt thanks to Nickie!) and all of its connotations: inherently feminine, it inspires images of wide open spaces, prairie skies and rolling hills. There was a feeling of adventure, travel and wanderlust. We even talked about wearing them to the Calgary Stampede, and about how this modern, sleek design makes a departure from the country-literal and evokes a sense of urbanity. Handpicked by you, handcrafted by us, we introduce The Savannah Hill Boot. A modern take on the traditional knee-high equestrian boot, The Savannah Hill Boot takes the riding boot silhouette and updates it with contemporary pattern details and a high-to-low topline. A subtle nod to the West, this style is all at once feminine, edgy and functional for everyday wearability: the hidden inside half-height zip and interior pull-tabs are designed for a woman on the go. Congrats to our contest winner, Lisa H., the first person to own The Savannah Hill Boot, custom made to her exact measurements and design specifications, and thank you for helping to shape Poppy Barley Made to Measure Footwear.
