Boots For Wide Calves

I never really gave much thought to the size of my calves. It wasn’t until tall boots became the latest trend (and we all rejoiced that we could finally tuck our denim into our boots, instead of leaving them dragging under our heels collecting dirt) that it became a "thing". I remember strolling into one of the big chain shoe stores ready and willing to invest in tall boots. I tried on 3 different pairs that wouldn’t zip up past my ankles to realize that maybe buying boots wasn’t going to be as straight forward as it should be.

I’ve combated this in ridiculous ways. I confess that I once loved a style of tall boots so much that I purchased a pair 2.5 sizes too big in order to accommodate my calves. I have also been "gifted" with a wide foot (such a joy, isn’t it), so I do often go up a half or full size to make sure my wide foot and large calves have room to breathe. Despite these fit issues, I still hadn’t really considered calf fitted boots. That was, of course, until I learned of Poppy Barley and their boots for wide calves. The measuring/ordering process was actually quite smooth and the first time I zipped them up, it was the most amazing experience. I’m still blown away that I own a pair of tall boots that fit both my calves AND feet properly! For the very first time, I took a pair of tall boots on vacation with me. I was recently in London (where these photos were taken) and was able to endure the winter chill with my stylish Poppy Barley Foxhunt Boots. They survived long days of sightseeing and managed to remain comfortable--what a novel concept! I had no idea what I was missing out on, but calf fitted footwear is THE way to go, especially if you’re dealing with unique sizing issues. Thanks team PB, my calves and closet are immensely happy!
