The Read | Lifestyle All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Go Featuring Michelle Addison April 15, 2020 3-minute read We get it. The temptation to slip into a comfy sweatsuit day after day may seem like the best (and easiest) option during quarantine and you’ve probably been debating if the term “dress code” applies when working from home. However, as we approach the one month mark of our new routines, we’re recognizing the impact of how we dress day-to-day. There’s something to be said about returning to your long lost morning routine—including your outfitting options. We caught up with one of our favourite West Coast stylists, Michelle Addison, to hear her take on dressing for success at home and how she’s styling our favourite shoes and accessories! "Since we are on day 887 of the pandemic we might collectively be feeling a bit of lockdown fatigue. Just because we may feel hopeless, we don’t have to look it! Getting dressed in the morning can make us feel better. I like to creatively use the clothes I have and selectively add a few additions. Be mindful of what you have and always choose quality over quantity. Poppy Barley has the quality I want in an investment shoe that won’t break my bank account. Comfortable, stylish and clearly a high standard in quality, Poppy Barley shoes make me excited to get dressed for a day at my computer and trying to not keep looking in the fridge!" Look #1: Virtual Happy Hour Listen—now is the time to wear a cropped top with pretty much anything. No six-pack required when your Zoom call is focusing just above the waist! I love a high-waisted coloured cropped pant with The Statement Slingback. These shoes are the perfect heel height for sitting or walking around your house. Michelle is wearing The Statement Slingback in Black paired with a Rachel Comey top, Pushbutton pants and Celine sunglasses. Look #2: Casually Cool We still need to go to the grocery store and I prefer to be hands-free so I can hand sanitize at least every five seconds. Wearing this neutral bag with my tone-on-tone look is one of my favourite go-to looks. Try mixing neutral colours and wearing them with a pop of colour on your feet. Michelle is sporting The 3-in-1 Wristlet in Stone Python. She’s paired it with the ultimate cozy Cotton Citizen hoodie from Vancouver's West of Woodward, Nili Lotan Pants and a Laura Lombardi Chain necklace. Look #3: Easy-Going Elegance Don’t we ALL have a jean skirt somewhere?! I have many but this year I opted for a long one, worn with these beautiful camel-coloured Petite Pumps. I’m ready for spring ... or to answer the door when my package arrives from Amazon. Blue jean skirts (or jeans), brown suede shoes and striped sweaters complete my quintessential spring look. Michelle is styled in The Petite Pump in Camel Suede, Saint Laurent Sweater, Les Coyotes de Paris Jean Skirt and has accessorized with Roxanne Assoulin bracelets.
